The reason I started Honesty Comics is simple:

“HONESTY.” 

My father had a collection of comic books that I would read as a child. Titles ranging from Superhero to Fantasy. I quickly fell in love with the art & storylines in each magazine & started collecting myself. Down the road my Father had to make difficult choices to make sure his bills were paid & one of those choices was unfortunately selling his comic book collection for extra money.

My father reached out to an investor, and had them come out to appraise his collection. As a child who loved these books, I was sad to see them go but understood the situation my father was put in. The investor offered my father $10,000 for a collection that took years for him to acquire and I just couldn’t wrap my head around it for the longest time. I thought to myself, “How is someone’s life long collection only worth $10,000?” 

Eventually, my Father puts the house up for sale and what do I come across? His old spreadsheet that had every single comic book he’d ever purchased. Talk About Luck! After 3 months of exhaustive research looking up every book and their current price today; that $10,000 comic book collection was worth a staggering $175,000!! From that very moment I told myself that I will never let another collector out there go through what my father did and lose out on that much capital!
